MTV Australia has enlisted Hollywood's bitchiest blogger as a host for next month's Australian Video Music Awards. Perez Hilton, the notorious celebrity gossip blogger whose scathing comments strike fear into the heart of Hollywood, will join Australian export Sophie Monk in interviewing the stars as they stroll down the red carpet at Sydney's Acer Arena on April 29. The 28-year-old self-described "gossip gangsta", whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, has through his site become a celebrity in his own right, and is a stellar example of the fame and influence many A-list bloggers now enjoy. In an interview conducted from his "office" at a coffee shop on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, the bubbly Hilton boasted of the 5 million visitors who come to his site daily for their celebrity gossip fix. He speculated this massive global audience was what led MTV - which technically competes with Hilton's blog for eyeballs - to his door. "[MTV chose me because] I'm good on camera, because I've proven successful for them in the past, [and] because I have an international audience of my own," he said. "If I was crappy on camera they wouldn't be using me, but I'm entertaining and I'll keep things exciting and dangerous and you won't know what's going to happen with me." MTV Australia's executive producer, Ean Thorley, concurred: "Perez has made a name for himself on a global scale by doing exactly what we need him to do ... commentate on celebrities. Not only has he proven to deliver witty, controversial commentary, he has also demonstrated that he can attract over 4 million visitors to his website a day and keep them coming back." Hilton is regularly sighted in the company of the most famous celebrities, including Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas (the main host of this year's awards), Sienna Miller and Paris Hilton. "I've had everything from Nicole Richie coming up and telling me to call her anorexic to her face, and I've had Tara Reid threaten to throw me in a pool at a party," he told BBC News in a recent interview. Late last year, US celebrity photo agency X17 filed a lawsuit against Hilton alleging he infringed copyright by stealing its pictures for use on his site. Jennifer Hudson is in line to play Aretha Franklin in a movie about her life. Aretha, who has been approached by several movie studios about taking her story to the big screen, has revealed that Jennifer has been suggested for the starring role. Aretha told Access Hollywood: "Well, I don't know. I'm not sure. The producers want to know how I feel about it, about her playing me. What I'd like to see is three different people playing me." Although Aretha remains unconvinced about the Oscar-winning actress' suitability for the role, she has seen other possible candidates. She said: "There's a young lady who opened the tribute show in Los Angeles that the United Negro College Fund gave me who was very good and I've heard another little girl who was quite good. Perhaps someone playing me from the age of 25 to about 40 and then someone else beyond that." Aretha also doubts that movie bosses will find anyone who can match her vocal prowess. She explained: "There may even be a little lip synching here and there. We've gotta go with some of these records I made throughout my career. They were classics and some of it will be verbal but not vocalised in its entirety." A musical production based on the life of the soul singer is already in the pipeline, with auditions planned for Detroit in May. Aretha will be involved in casting, and will choose people to portray "key members" from her family and friends.

Britney Spears has reportedly found love in rehab. The 'Toxic' singer is said to have fallen for Jason Filyaw, the 33-year-old lead guitarist of rock band Riva, who she met at her Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. A source told the National Enquirer magazine: "Britney adores Jason. He's been a tower of strength for her at the lowest point in her life. She's convinced Jason can help her through rehab because, as an alcoholic, he's been through the same thing." The 25-year-old singer is now planning to move in with the rocker when she leaves rehab, it has been claimed. Britney reportedly emails and phones Jason constantly and the pair already have pet names for each other. He calls her Sugar, Kitten and My Lady, while Britney calls him Mr. Secret Underground Guy and J-Sun. Britney is being treated for alcoholism at Malibu's Promises centre while estranged husband Kevin Federline takes care of her sons, 18-month-old Sean Preston and six-month-old Jayden James.

Liam Aaron McDermott, who weighed 6lbs 6oz, was delivered via Caesarean section at Los Angeles' Cedars Sinai hospital yesterday (13.03.07). A representative for Tori and husband Dean McDermott said: "They're all really happy and everybody's resting now. Tori and the baby are healthy." The baby's middle name is a tribute to Tori's late father, TV producer Aaron Spelling, who died last June. The former 'Beverly Hills 90210' star and her mother Candy stopped speaking after Aaron's death, but were reunited in time for the birth. Candy, who was at the hospital to greet her new grandson, said: "Words can't describe the joy and elation I feel at this truly happy event. "I am looking forward to doting on my new little grandson and all the memorable fun that comes with it." Tori recently revealed she couldn't wait to give birth, saying: "I am ready to meet my little man. I can't wait to be a mom and hold this little baby in my arms." This is Tori and Dean's first child together. Dean also has an eight-year-old son Jack with his ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace. The couple met in 2005 while filming TV movie 'Mind Over Murder' and tied the knot in Fiji last May. New Line executives want the 'Brokeback Mountain' star to play Captain Marvel in 'Shazam', based on the DC comic. A source said: "The film will be New Line's box office franchise to rival 'Batman', 'Superman' and 'Spider-Man'. "They're ready to spend up to $200 million to get it started." Jake is also being pursued by Sony Pictures to play 'Spider-Man' in the fourth instalment of the hit series. 'Spider-Man 3' is due out on May 4 and star Tobey Maguire has said he is ready to retire as the web-slinging superhero. Director Sam Raimi is keen to continue the franchise and is keen for Jake to take over the lead role. A source said: "Sam is obviously disappointed Tobey wants to hang up his suit. He initially didn't think he would be able to make the film without him but now thinks he has found the ideal replacement in Jake."

Sarah is planning to sell the line to Steve and Barry's for somewhere between $1 million and $5 million." Steve and Barry's is a popular US high street chain. "She wasn't a virgin when she was dressed up as a schoolgirl in those early videos and she's been taking drugs for eight years. I used to dabble and I knew that she did too, but we never said anything to each other. At least now she's trying to sort it out by going to rehab."

Angelina Jolie may become a mother again within weeks - according to Vietnamese officials. The actress, who wants to adopt for the third time after falling in love with a three-and-a-half year-old Vietnamese boy, has been told by adoption officials that her application is being processed quickly and could be completed by the end of the month. Nguyen Van Trung, director of the Tam Binh orphanage on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City, said: "He is in good health. He is a little bit shy but he gets along with the other children and likes playing soccer." Angelina, 31 - who is dating Brad Pitt - has made a solo application to become the child's parent because it is difficult for unmarried couples to adopt under Vietnamese law. Angelina and Brad, 43, jointly adopted two-year-old Ethiopian baby Zahara. Brad is father to five-year-old son Maddox, whom Angelina had previously adopted from Cambodia. The couple also have a 10-month-old biological daughter called Shiloh. Foreign applications to adopt Vietnamese children can face a lengthy and complex screening process. However, after a search to locate the child's birth family failed, and because of the age of the boy, Angelina's application is being "processed quickly".

Ellen was allegedly confronted by Portia about their future plans after Ellen had finished hosting the Oscars.

Former 'Ally McBeal' star Portia is said to have quizzed her long-term partner about her marriage intentions and forced her to set a date.

A source told the National Enquirer magazine: "Portia demanded that Ellen marry her. After lots of talk and plenty of hints, Portia finally confronted Ellen right after the Oscars about making a commitment."

The couple are now planning a lavish ceremony for friends and family at their California home in June, when Ellen's chat show is off air.

Snoop Arrested On Drugs Charges.

Swedish police arrested rapper SNOOP DOGG on suspicion of using illegal narcotics in the early hours of yesterday morning (12MAR07), before releasing him after questioning and drug tests.

The BEAUTIFUL star had just performed a gig in Stockholm and was travelling to an after-show party when police pulled his car over at 1:30am.

Cops decided Snoop Dogg - real name CALVIN BROADUS - and a female companion showed signs of drug use and took the pair to a nearby police station. They were held overnight before being released this morning.

A small amount of drugs were found in the car, although it is not yet clear what the drugs were or who they belonged to.Sweden usually punishes minor drug offences with a fine.

Madonna insists on complete silence at home when sleeping, it has been claimed. Melissa Dumas - who claims to have been the singer's nanny between 2005 and 2006 and is publishing a tell-all book - will reveal the super-strict household rules in the tome. Dumas said: "Madonna won't allow anybody to make noise in the house while she's sleeping - not even running water for showers." Dumas claims to have lived in four of Madonna's homes with her and her children - ten-year-old Lourdes and six-year-old Rocco - and adhered to her strict rules which includes a complete ban on all television, newspapers and magazines, and a severe dietary regime. Dumas has sold the rights for her book - tentatively titled 'Live To Tell: My Life as Madonna's Nanny' - to America's Crown publishers. Los Angeles literary agent Sharlene Martin confirmed "a strong six-figure pre-emptive sale of the book." It will be co-written by a ghostwriter and fast-tracked for publication in September.
