Paris may get to see simple life in jail

Los Angeles: Hotel heiress Paris Hilton could face up to three months behind bars after she was caught driving on a suspended license while on probation for a previous driving violation, authorities said Wednesday.

The celebrity socialite was pulled over on Tuesday evening in Los Angeles because she was driving her Bentley Continental GTC with the headlights off, said sergeant Duane Allen.

When police learned Hilton was driving on a suspended license, they confiscated the luxury car, worth 190,000 dollars, which she bought herself for Christmas.

Hilton’s latest run-in with the law comes after she was convicted last month for alcohol-related reckless driving and given 36 months probation. The charges stemmed from her September 7 arrest after she was found driving her Mercedes with an alcohol level equal to the legal limit.

The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office said it would request that Hilton’s probation be revoked once it checks the police citation for the latest incident.

“Once our office is able to verify that Miss Hilton was driving, we will request that the court revoke her probation and set a probation violation hearing,” said Nick Velasquez, spokesman for the city Attorney’s Office.

Hilton could face up to 90 days in jail if she is found in violation of probation, Velasquez said.

A favourite target for tabloid gossip and the paparazzi, Hilton appeared in the reality television series The Simple Life, and in 2003 an unauthorised sex video with her former boyfriend appeared on the Internet. She ventured into music last year with a debut album.
